  • History:

The production area of the Mushroom of Borgotaro Igp includes 6 municipalities in the province of Parma, specifically Bedonia, Berceto, Borgo Val di Taro, Albareto, Compiano and Tornolo; in history there are not so many documents that report or narrate about this product: the first mention is found in the Istoria della Val di Taro, written by Alberto Clemento Cassio between the mid-17th and early 18th centuries. About a century later, the news of a flourishing production of mushrooms, in particular in the Albareto area, returned to the topographical Vocabulary of the Duchy of Parma. Its diffusion on the market, however, began in the nineteenth century which, year after year and given the increasing demand for the product, led to the birth of the Parmense Municipal Consortium, a real promoter for obtaining the European IGP certification. In 1995 it became the Consortium for the Protection of the Mushroom of Borgotaro Igp with the aim of protecting and enhancing this excellence of the territory.

  • Product description:

The substantial difference of the Borgotaro IGP mushroom with other types of fungi is the so-called "non-cultivation": in fact it is the only European mushroom and fruit and vegetable product not cultivated but characterized by spontaneous growth. The Igp certified product includes 4 different types of Boletus, each with similar basic characteristics, but with some differences highlighted in part in their nicknames: red, moro, magnon and cold mushroom. These types of mushrooms have a distinctly rounded shape with a soft and fleshy consistency; they ensure a simple and clean scent, with no hints of liqueur or hay but with intense and aromatic hints of wood. These characteristics make it perfect for its conservation in olive oil, giving a fragrant, tasty and very delicate product.

It will be delivered in an elegant glass jar with hermetic closure, label and certification.
